About the artist:

Lauren Jones is a mixed media artist and a resident of Palestine, Texas. Although born in San Antonio, Lauren spent most of her childhood in East Texas and calls Grapeland her hometown. Lauren spent most of her youth writing and playing original music; at age 14 she learned to play guitar, and by age 17 she had written over a dozen original songs and opened for artists such as Moe Bandy and Gene Watson. After graduating from Grapeland High School in 2011, she spent a year at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor as a journalism student and editor for The Bells newspaper. Between 2012 and 2018, Lauren lived in the Texas Hill Country and worked in different roles in the restaurant, radio, and senior living industries before the birth of her daughter in 2017. In 2019 she moved back to San Antonio and returned to school via Texas Tech University online. Lauren graduated magna cum laude in 2021 with a B.S. in Human Sciences with concentrations in Addictive Disorders and Recovery Studies, Human Development and Family Studies, and Family Life Studies. In 2022, Lauren returned to East Texas and began working as a children’s mental health case manager. Lauren is an active member of the Dogwood Arts Council and participates in their monthly art walk. Lauren lives with her daughter, Opal, her dog, Bo, and her cat, Mako. Along with painting, Lauren enjoys cooking, singing, and traveling. Lauren hopes to someday move to Denmark to be united with her long distance partner, Rasmus.
